How We Give Back
Our company is proud to give back to the community that helps support us. Over the years, we’ve gladly contributed our time and money to the following organizations:
Short Stop Charity Golf Tournament
In 2022 we had our 15h charity golf tournament at Gates Four Country Club. Short Stop, along with its vendors come together to raise money for our local Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross. This year we raised $30,000 for our local chapter. In our 15 year partnership with the American Red Cross we have been able to raise almost $4000,000.00. We couldn’t do this without the support of our sponsors. If you would like to know more or participate in our future golf tournament, please call Mary Morketter at 910-433-3390 ext. 23.
Local Athletic Programs
Short Stop has given more than $100,000 to participating schools in order to supplement the athletic budgets they receive every year. We continue to support local teams in the areas where our stores are located, from your local high school baseball team or the local YMCA basketball league. Short Stop believes that Kids learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, respect for authority and rules, and how to win with class and lose with dignity.
Muscular Dystrophy Association
Short Stop has partnered with the MDA since at least 2005. Since then we have raised over $400,000 for the MDA with the support of our employees and our customers. Every year our employees are able to surpass their goal of what they made the year before. In 2022, we raised $16,500. We are so grateful for every single manager, employee and customer that helped make this possible.
Exxon/Mobil Educational Alliance Program
Every year ExxonMobil gives away over $2 million dollars in grants for local schools for Math and Science. Short Stop has been able to sponsor schools and have them receive a $500 grant. In 2022 we were able to give out $4000 and since 2021 we have given $64,000 in grants to local schools to be used for Math and Science. Short Stop has partnered with Exxon since 2012 and we have been able to give over $44,000 to our local schools.
